The Residents First initiative features customized training
in Quality Improvement science and practice across
four learning streams:
Leading QualityThe Residents First initiative offers a program for leaders of long-term care homes that centers on providing them with the knowledge and tools to create an environment that supports continuous quality improvement.
Improvement FacilitationHomes who participate in Residents First have the option of designating someone within their organization to be trained as an improvement facilitator. The improvement facilitator will act as mentors and coaches to support, encourage, and engage staff in their homes throughout their quality improvement journey
Collaborative LearningEach Residents First home will identify a Quality Improvement team. These teams will engage in dialogue, training and measurement on quality improvement science and specific topic areas including resident use of hospital emergency departments, consistency of PSW assignment in the long-term care home, prevention of falls and pressure ulcers, promotion of continence, behavioral support systems and medication safety.
Lean Process ImprovementResidents First offers LEAN Process Improvement training to help homes examine workflow processes, search for ways to reduce duplication, standardize inconsistent steps, and eliminate work that does not add value to the resident. |
